INTERVALL is a scenic composition by and with the percussion ensemble Pinquins and the scenographer Kjersti Alm Eriksen. In INTERVALL, the performers explore the relationship between person and object, between conscious actions and mechanical consequences. In a magnificent scenographic construction – a large wooden box of 3.7 x 3.7 meters – they have created an in-between space, where the distant becomes close, the heavy becomes light, where movement becomes sound from a distance, and leaves a trace.
“As experimental music percussionists, Pinquins are often placed at the intersection of human expression and mechanical action – rhythmic, motoric, hitting, plucking, grinding – the musician become machine. From the other side of the mirror, Kjersti Alm Eriksen’s artworks create very human technology, machines full of frailty and failure, exploring the point at which technology seems to take on personality.”
The work was premiered at Borealis Festival in Bergen 2023.
